Wantagh Teens Named National Merit Finalists

MacArthur High School students Jordan Fisher and Lauren Saunders among 15,000 nationwide to earn designation.

Wantagh residents Jordan Fisher and Lauren Saunders, both seniors at McArthur High School in Levittown, have been designated as finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The MacArthur students are in contention to become one of 8,400 Merit Scholarship winners from a group of more than 15,000 finalists. Awards worth more than $32 million from the National Merit Scholarship Program will be announced this spring.

Another Levittown School District student named as a National Merit Finalist was Division Avenue High School’s Garret Leotta. All three local winners were honored at the Feb. 8 Levittown Board of Education meeting.
