Winning Author at Mandalay

Third grader Katie Mullane has narrative writing piece chosen as winning selection in the Nassau Reading Council 2012 Young Authors' Contest.

Katie Mullane, a third-grade student at in Wantagh, has had her narrative writing piece chosen as a winning selection in the Nassau Reading Council 2012 Young Authors’ Contest.

Mullane and her third grade classmates in Colleen O'Callaghan's class have been learning all about narrative writing during their Writing Workshop this year. She and five of her classmates, were asked to submit their work to the contest.

Mullane has been invited to read her winning entry, which recounts her first time on a roller coaster, at an awards ceremony on Monday, June 4, at the Wilbur Arts Center at Molloy College in Rockville Centre An anthology of all the winners’ writings will be distributed at the ceremony.
