Former Seaford Football Star Ready for Next Chapter

Nick Fischetti was an All-County and former captain of both Seaford football and baseball.

The Seaford High School Football team’s first game will be Sept. 12, but they will be going to battle without star Nick Fischetti, who is now a freshman at SUNY Maritime in the Bronx.

Fischetti was a running back in football, a point guard in basketball and a first baseman in baseball. He was All-County his senior season in football and baseball, and he was also a captain for the varsity squads as well.

At SUNY Maritime, he’s focusing on football, and he’s not sure how much he’s going to see the field in the early going.

“I think I’m going to see some playing time, but we’ll see,” Fischetti said. “The guys here are totally awesome. They welcomed me right into the team.”

The reason he chose SUNY Maritime was because they have a strong record for placing students in jobs the first year out of school, Fischetti said. He added that playing football at the next level would be “a dream come true.” He’s majoring in business and international transportation and trade.

“I had all my friends all the time supporting me in Seaford,” Fischetti said. “All my teachers supported me as well. Whenever I needed help, I would go to them.”

“I would thank friends, family and family friends for always being there whenever I needed them,” he added.

In four years, Fischetti said he’d love to graduate, get a good job and be on his own. When asked about who’s inspired him along the way, he said it’d have to be his parents.

“They’ve always pushed and me and told me I could do whatever I want,” he said. “They taught me that anything is possible.”
