Former Wantagh Girls Lacrosse Star Wins National Title

Jackie Sileo registers nine points to help lead CW Post to Division II national championship win over West Chester Saturday.

Wantagh resident Jackie Sileo can now add national championship to her long list of women’s lacrosse accolades.

The Wantagh High School 2010 graduate helped lead the CW Post women’s lacrosse team to the 2012 Division II national title with a 17-16 victory over West Chester at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. Saturday. Sileo was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after setting an NCAA Division II Championships record with a game-high nine points.

A Wantagh High School graduate has now won a Division II women's lacrosse national championship three years in a row. Former Lady Warrior standout Claire Pettersen guided Adelphi to Division II women's lacrosse titles in 2010 and 2011.

Sileo finished her sophomore campaign with 141 points including the most assists in Division II with 96. As a freshman last year, the Wantagh product recorded had with 117 points while being named to the IWLCA All-America Second Team.

At Wantagh High School, Sileo earned all-conference and all-county honors as well as All-America honorable mention. She led Nassau County in assists as a senior in 2010 while leading the Lady Warriors to the Class B title game.
