Former Wantagh Girls Lacrosse Stars Win College National Championships

Jackie Sileo leads LI Post to second straight Division II title and Paula Schmidt is part of University of North Carolina's Division I championship run.

Two former Wantagh High School girls lacrosse standouts have earned college national championship rings in 2013.

LIU Post junior attacker Jackie Sileo tallied in six points in leading the Pioneers to a second straight Division II women’s lacrosse national title on May 19 against Limestone, 10-7. A week later, Sileo’s former Wantagh teammate Paula Schmidt also captured a national title when her University of North Carolina team posted a 13-12 triple overtime win against Maryland in the NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse championship game.

Sileo and Schmidt were apart of Wantagh teams that reached three straight Nassau County Class B title games from 2008-2010. Both earned All-American honors during their careers with the Lady Warriors.
