Local Lacrosse Community Honors Late Youth Coach

Tribute held for Mike Glazer prior to Wantagh-Seaford game.

This past Monday’s boys lacrosse between neighborhood rivals Wantagh and Seaford paid tribute to the late Mike Glazer, who coached many players from both local teams.

Glazer, who was a boys lacrosse coach with the , died two and a half years ago at age 47 of complications from Crohn's Disease. Since Glazer coached many of the players that suited up in Monday’s game between Wantagh and Seaford, it was decided that this would be the appropriate setting to honor him.

The dedication to Glazer at featured a pregame ceremony where both teams presented flowers to Glazer’s wife Diane. The entire Seaford team also gave hugs to Ms. Glazer just after the ceremony concluded.

“It was very moving,” said Glazer moments after the ceremony ended.

Glazer’s son Kevin is a senior midfielder on Seaford and scored a goal in the third quarter. Wantagh went on to to win the game 17-8.

“Mike was a great guy and Kevin’s a great kid so it was emotional,” said Seaford boys lacrosse head Mike Corcoran of the tribute before Monday’s game.
