No Timetable for Reopening of Jones Beach Pitch & Putt

Course suffered major flooding from Superstorm Sandy.

While much of Jones Beach State Park devastated by Superstorm Sandy is slated to reopen for the summer season this Memorial Day weekend, golfers who utilize the Long Island landmark's pitch & putt course will have to wait.

New York State Parks Deputy Regional Director George Gorman said the pitch & putt course suffered major flooding from Superstorm Sandy last October and there is no timetable for when it will be reopened.

"The entire course was flooded with seawater," Gorman said. "We're hoping to have it open for the summer."

Gorman said he expects the miniature golf area of Jones Beach to open by June 22. A press conference is scheduled Friday morning to announce the reopening of the Jones Beach Boardwalk and other areas of the state park.
