Seaford Baseball Makes Strides in 2011

Vikings advance to quarterfinals before falling to top-seeded Plainedge.

Despite falling to top-seeded Plainedge in last week’s Nassau County Class A quarterfinals, the 2011 baseball season was one to remember for the Seaford Vikings.

After last year’s first round exit to Jericho, Seaford dedicating themselves in the offseason to trying to win a county title. The Viking fell short of this goal but made major strides in 2011 going 13-10 overall including an of second-seeded Clarke in the first round of the playoffs after getting swept by the Rams in a three-game series only a week earlier.

Seaford advanced as far as it did this year despite not having a single All-County player on its roster. “We were in just about every game.,” said Seaford head coach Mike Milano, who has guided the Viking baseball program since 2004. “It was s successful year for us and we’re excited to get back at it next year.”
