The Seaford High School boys lacrosse team's season ended in heartbreaking fashion with a 9-8 overtime setback to Friends Academy in the Nassau County Class C semifinals at Hofstra.

After Daniel Arena put Seaford up 8-7 with 1:28 remaining, Friends fired back just 31 seconds later to knot the score. Friends (12-3) then got man-advantage overtime and Alex Ryan made the Vikings pay with a crank shot off a pass from Zack Westermann 31 seconds into the extra session to send the Quakers to the Nassau County Class C title game on June 1 against top-seeded Cold Spring Harbor.

Seaford's offense was led by Anthony Marino who scored two goals and tallied a pair of assists. Will Montgomery, Joe Richards, Bryan, Graziose, Tommy Curren, Kevin Glazer and Danny Arena all had one goal each. Viking goalie Joe Kirincic made five saves in net.

The heartbreaking loss ended Seaford’s season at 12-5 just one victory short of playing for a Nassau County title. Moments after the crushing defeat Seaford head coach Mike Corcoran expressed to the team how proud he was of how they competed.

“I asked for my team to play their hearts out, and that's what I got, so I am proud,” said Corcoran. “This is a tough way to end a season, and these things happen in life.”
