Seaford Girls Lacrosse Season Ends in Semis for Third Straight Year

The Seaford girls lacrosse season ended in the semifinal round for a third straight year Thursday but following the dissapointing loss, head coach Kurt Dankerbrink reflected on what was another successful Lady Viking season.

“Overall we had a nice year,” said Coach Dankerbrink moments after Seaford fell to top-seeded Cold Spring Harbor, 13-0, in the Nassau County Class C semifinals at Adelphi University’s Motamed Field to finish the 2013 season with a 9-8 overall record. “It feels a little sour now but it was a good year and the team had fun together."

Seaford reached the semifinal stage after a 14-10 quarterfinal win against Island Trees last Wednesday. The Vikings entered the playoffs at 8-7 overall while playing a competitive schedule in Conference II.

Thursday’s loss to Cold Spring Harbor marked the final Viking game for seniors Lauren Weisberger, Megan Greco, Emily Palermo, Melissa Wolfson Allison Glazer, Shannon Spurrel and Erin Burdick. They were part of a senior class that made the semifinals three straight years including nearly upsetting eventual Nassau County Class Champion North Shore last year.

“We had a nice group of seniors,” Dankerbrink said. “It’s sad to see them go.”
