Wantagh Baseball Completes Undefeated Regular Season

Warriors enter playoffs with a 19-0 record.

The Wantagh baseball team has made history in 2013 even before the playoffs begin.

The Warriors completed a perfect 19-0 regular season on Tuesday with a 4-3 victory against rival Garden City. The unbeaten regular season is the first in Wantagh baseball history.

Wantagh finished atop the Nassau Conference A-1 standings and will be the number one seed in the Nassau County Class playoffs that gets underway Saturday. The Warriors will host eight-seeded Garden City Saturday at a time to be determined. The winner of Saturday's game will receive a bye to the best-of-three quarterfinals next week.

Last year Wantagh fell in the quarterfinals to Island Trees in three games. The Warriors last captured a county title in 2010. The last state championship for Wantagh baseball came in 1998.
