Wantagh Football Player Honored by MSG Varsity
Junior defensive back Gerard Rohe earns Defensive Player of the Week honors after stellar performance in win at Carey.
football player Gerard Roche was named Defensive Player of the Week bv MSG Varsity following the junior defensive back’s stellar performance in a 17-16 overtime win at Carey on Oct. 6.
Roche recorded three interceptions including two in the red zone during Wantagh’s crucial road win at Carey. Roche also blocked a crucial extra point in the second overtime after Carey had gone ahead 16-10.
"Gerard is everything you want to have in a player as a coach and everything you would want in a teammate,” said Wantagh football head coach Tom Casey.

Wantagh (4-1) has won three games in a row since falling to Garden City on Sept. 17. The Warriors are next in action Saturday at New Hyde Park for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
