Wantagh Girls Volleyball Continues Undefeated Season

Warriors move to 8-0 with with four-set win at Roslyn.

The Wantagh girls volleyball team continued its unbeaten season Tuesday evening with a four-set win at Roslyn.

Wantagh is now 8-0 and remains atop the Conference A-1 standings. However following Tuesday evening's win Wantagh head coach Kathryn Lux said she was not completely satisfied with the performance of her team. "We didn't play up to our potential, " she said. " We were a roller coaster, but we made it out in the end."

Jenny Ilibassi and Lauren Pennino led the charge for Wantagh with seven kills each. The sister duo of Carly and Nicole Simeone also played a major role in the victory for the Lady Warriors with 12 assists and seven aces, respectively.

Roslyn fought hard throughout the game to stay within striking distance of pulling off the upset. Game two was a nail biter with both teams keeping the score close for the duration of the contest before Roslyn ended up winning the hard-hitting battle 25-21. However after dropping the second game Wantagh quickly re-gained momentum to win the next two sets in decisive fashion, 25-14 and 25-13.

Wantagh is next in action at home against West Hempstead (1-6) on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
