Wantagh HS Freshman to Be Featured on MSG Varsity Wrestling Special

Jay Rodriguez to take part in NJ/NY Charity Challenge for High School Wrestlers airing this Monday.

Wantagh High School freshman Jay Rodriguez will be featured in MSG Varsity’s NJ/NY Charity Challenge for High School Wrestlers airing this Monday.

The television event features a cross-state tournament of top high school wrestlers competing for bragging rights and benefiting two charities—The Adam Frey Foundation and Pinning Down Autism.  The tournament will air in high definition on Monday at 7:30pm on MSG Varsity, iO Channel 14.  The event, being held at Clarkstown South High School in West Nyack, N.Y. on Sunday at  1 p.m. will also stream live on msgvarsity.com as the action unfolds.

Rodriguez captured an at 99 pounds on Feb. 12 at Hofstra University’s Mack Sports Complex. He then finished second in the New York State Wrestling Championships.  

In MSG Varsity’s NJ/NY Charity, Rodriguez will wrestle Kyle Bierdumpfel from Mahwah High School in New Jersey at 99 pounds. MSG Varsity’s, Bob Badders, Nick Garone, Mick Moningoff, and Gregg Sarra will call the single mat event.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
