Wantagh's April Iannetta Makes CAA Women's Lacrosse All-Rookie Team

Hofstra freshman midfielder finishes 2012 season with 21 points.

Former girls lacrosse standout April Iannetta did not miss a beat when she brought her game to the collegiate level.

The Hofstra freshman midfielder earned Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie honors at the conference’s awards banquet held on April 26.

Iannetta tallied 21 points on 14 goals and seven assists for Hofstra, which lost a 10-9 heartbreaker to James Madison in the CAA semifinals on April 27. The Wantagh product, who , ranked fifth on the Pride in goals and points. and led the team with 13 caused turnovers, 11 ground balls and five draw controls.  

Iannetta’s stellar career at Wantagh High School prior to Hofstra included garnering All-Nassau County honors as a senior in 2011. She helped lead the Lady Warriors to the Nassau County finals in 2009 and 2010.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
