Wantagh's Von Bargen Selected to All Star Football Team

Warrior standout to play with Long Island squad in annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge at Hofstra.

football standout Brian von Bargen will be playing lacrosse at Hofstra University next year, but before his collegiate career begins he will get one last chance to hit the gridiron at his future home.

Von Bargen was selected to compete with  the Long Island squad when it battles football all stars from New York City in the 15th annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium on June 19 at 7 p.m. Von Bargen, who starred offensively at running back and tight end with the Warriors, has been added as a defensive back on the Long Island roster. He Wantagh to the Nassau County title game against Garden City last fall.

The Empire Challenge was formed by former NFL star and East Islip native Boomer Esiason. It benefits the Boomer Esiason Foundation in its fight against cystic fibrosis, contributes to the Gunnar H. Esiason Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hofstra, and supports youth and high school football in the New York metropolitan area.
