Wantagh Woman Completes First Marathon Run Sunday

Jacqui Koplik decided to run 26.2 mile distance as thank you to those who donated to EJ Autism Foundation on her behalf.

While this past Sunday's New York City Marathon was cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy, one Wantagh woman decided to still run 26.2 miles that day in tribute to those who have donated to her charitable cause.

Jacqui Koplik of Wantagh completed her first marathon distance run Sunday as an appreciation for those who have donated on her behalf to the EJ Autism Foundation. With some company from her husband Joe and a few of her running buddies along the way, Koplik fulfilled her quest. Koplik's marathon run took her from from North Wantagh south to Cedar Creek Park and then down the Wantagh Parkway Bike Path before heading back north through northern parts of Seaford.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
