The wrestling team’s dominance on the mat continued this past weekend with 12 Warrior wrestlers earning recognitions at the Nassau County individual championships.
A dozen Warrior wrestlers earned All-County honors during the two-day championship event held at Hofstra University’s Mack Sports Complex. Wantagh, which on Jan. 28 the Nassau County dual meet championship, had two wrestlers, Jose Rodriguez (99 pounds) and Danny McDevitt (138 pounds), capture individual titles.
Also earning All-County honors at Hofstra, according to a recap posted by wantaghwrestling.com, were Kyle Quinn (106 pounds, third place); Chris Araoz (120 pounds, second place); Vinny Turano (126 pounds, second place); Nick Vines (132 pounds, third place); Doug Rogers (152 pounds, fifth place); Chris Loew (170 pounds, third place); James Corbett (182 pounds, fourth place); Alex Wedel (182 pounds, fifth place); Sean Tomlinson (195 pounds, fourth place); and Steven English (285 pounds, fifth place).
Wantagh will next be in action during the state high school wrestling tournament at the Times Union Center in Albany on Feb. 24-25.
