Wantagh's Von Bargen Earns All-CAA Men's Lacrosse Honors

Former standout at Wantagh High School excels in first season playing midfielder for Hofstra men's lacrosse team.

Wantagh High School graduate Brian von Bargen was rewarded this week for his successful first season on the Hofstra men’s lacrosse team.

Von Bargen was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team after played in all 14 games his freshman season with the Pride. The 2010 Wantagh graduate was seventh on the team in goals with eight including a key score during Hofstra’s 8-7 upset win at then second-ranked Notre Dame on March 8. He was a key member of Hofstra’s second midfield unit and started in the Pride’s regular season finale against Penn State on April 27.

Von Bargen entered Hofstra after a four-year career excelling at lacrosse, football and basketball at Wantagh High School. He helped lead the Wantagh boys lacrosse to the Nassau County Class B finals in his sophomore and senior seasons and was selected as the school’s Most Outstanding Athlete for 2011/12.
