Dave Matthews Band to Headline Two Nights at Jones Beach

Long Island shows to kick off Tuesday at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.

After a one-year hiatus from their famous summer shows, Dave Matthews Band (DMB) is back on tour and back in the studio gearing up for a September release date on their eighth studio album.

With elements of love, life, politics, race and war, DMB  has soared to the top, selling nearly 40 million albums since 1991 and frequenting the stage with some of jam band's largest names like guitar great Tim Reynolds, Trey Anastasio of Phish and Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule.

DMB will take to the stage at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh Tuesday and Wednesday evening in the early stages of their tour with support from opening act Fitz and the Tantrums, a soulful indie group formed in Los Angeles in 2008.

In addition to individual tour dates, Dave Matthews kicked off the summer as a headliner for the famed three-day Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala. The festivities for the year aren't over yet, as the band is slated to headline the inaugural River's Edge Music Festival in St. Paul, Minn. alongside names like The Flaming Lips, Tool and Puscifer.

Tuesday's DMB show opens at 6 p.m. while Fitz and the Tantrums are set to hit the stage at 7 p.m. rain or shine. For further information or to order tickets, click on Live Nation's website

Also performing at Jones Beach this week is hip-hop artist Drake on Saturday starting at 7 p.m. Drake is touring with J. Cole, French Montana, Waka Flocka, 2Chainz, and Meek Mill on his Club Paradise Tour.

DMB was caught ilegally dumping Haz Mat waste over a bridge. I will not listen to him after he attacked the environment like that.

It was the bus driver. Ironically, the water quality of the Chicago river actually improved

I'll be there tomorrow night! I've seen them at Jones Beach before, they are AMAZING <3

DMB is a Eco Terrorist. He was on the bus and let it happen. I can not listen or support a eco terrorist like him when I am cleaning up the Environment, UNLIKE him.

Please post links to back up your allegations.

Been to many DMB shows, and they are a snooze fest. They are just not very creative at improve. After a while you are just begging them to end the song.

Ranger - get a grip! There were no members of the band on board at the time of the incident. The bus driver pleaded guilty to all charges, and the band donated $100,000 to the Chicago Park District and Friends of the Chicago River.
I will be there tonight and tomorrow rain or shine :)

Shameful how the staff at the theatre acted with complete disregard for the welfare of the handicapped patrons stuck on the third level Sunday night when one of only two elevators broke down. Employees commandeered the elevator for their own personal use to to move trash bins and simply move between levels after Neil Diamond on Sunday night while patrons waited. It was every man for himself at the expense of the more severly handicapped with walkers who were unable to compete with more mobile people pushing to get onto the elevator. One employee showed up to push folks out of the way to help get a trash bin out of the elevator then disappeared instead of providing assistance. Seems when the show is over, the staff simply quits doing their jobs. Next time I'll make sure I have better seats on the lower level or won't go.

Come on. Let's not over-react. They need to move the trash bins around to get the place cleaned up

Jim R. June 12, 2012 at 08:03 pm

So when you go to see this Eco Terrorist, Remember he had no problems with Illegal Dumping of A Haz Mat liquid waste that he and his band produced.
Why would you support somebody like him who attacked the environment this way? http://www.poopreport.com/BMnewswire/1154.html http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1490541/dave-matthews-band-sued-stinking-up-river.jhtml http://www.tonyrogers.com/humor/dave_matthews_crap.htm

Sounds good - look forward to not seeing you at the shows, rump ranger

Ranger: Septic is not considered a hazardous waste. You should know that.
Ranger Sewer June 13, 2012 at 02:27 pm
Well, the EPA,DEC,NYDEC, Call it Haz Mat waste when NOT taken to a State, Fed and Local and well inspected Sewer Treatment Plant.
Pump your Septic Waste down your Street into a storm drain and call the EPA and DEC and your local code enforcement and tell them that and see what would happen via the Courts to you.
Matt June 13, 2012 at 04:08 pm
Wrong! It's NOT a HAZARDOUS WASTE. Look it up (RCRA). I'm not saying what the driver did was not illegal and wrong, just get your facts straight and stop trying to make it sound worse than it is. An ECO-Terrorist, really? That's just laughable. You may want to look that up too. We can't take you seriously.

What's great here is that Dave Matthews played a sold out concert in the rain to adoring fans last night at Jones Beach. The band got paid heartily, the fans went home happy and he's off to the next stop on the tour. What was it you were bickering about again?
Brendan June 13, 2012 at 04:26 pm
The next stop is the same stop, he is playing there again tonight. What is it you were not paying attention to again? Oh, everything? Good.
