Wantagh Park Pool Ready for Summer Post-Sandy

Swimming complex slated to open for summer season Saturday morning after receiving repairs following damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The Wantagh Park swimming pool is slated to officially open for the 2013 summer season Saturday after undergoing repairs following damage suffered by Hurricane Sandy last fall.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano said during a press conference at Wantagh Park Friday morning that his adimnistration has worked hard to make sure all of the county’s pools would be ready for this summer after needing repairs following the Oct. 29 superstorm. Mangao said Wantagh Park’s pool suffered the most damage since there was extensive electrical damaged caused by saltwater throughout the park and marina caused by flooding. In addition to the replacement of all electric at Wantagh Park, other new repairs and improvements include a concrete walkway at the entrance to the pool, repainting, landscaping and additional lifeguard chairs.

“Since Hurricane Sandy struck our shores, my administration has worked tirelessly to restore the summer destinations families visit the most beaches, parks and pools,” Mangao said in a statement. “I invite all residents to enjoy a ‘stay-cation' in Nassau County this summer."
