John Theissen Children's Foundation Holding Golf Tournament in Hempstead
Wantagh charity to hold fifth annual golf fundraiser Monday at Hempstead Country Club.
The Wantagh-based John Theissen Children's Foundation will hold its fifth annual golf tourament fundraiser this Monday at Hempstead Golf & Country Club.
The charity's founded John Theissen started his foundation in 1992 after a bout with cancer when he was a teenager. During his hospital stay, Theissen and his family befriended a 7-year-old girl named Tasha who was also in and out of the hospital. However unlike Theissen, Tasha received little support from her family.
"Unfortunately I have encountered a lot of Tashas throughout the last 20 years," said Theiseen, whose foundation is devoted to helping children with medical expenses, equipment, and birthday parties.

Registration for Monday's tournament in Hempstead starts at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.. For further information, call 516-679-5098.
