More than 500 Volunteers Clean up Jones Beach

Annual cleanup took place Sunday.

It's one of Long Island's jewels and more than 500 volunteers turned out over the weekend to keep it beautiful.

More than 1,500 pounds of trash was picked up at the 28th annual New York State Beach Cleanup at Jones Beach this weekend, according to State Sen. Charles Fuschillo, , R-Merrick, who co-sponsored the event.

"We collected an enormous amount of garbage and helped ensure
that one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines stays that way,"

The event was also sponsored by State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
