Save Seaford Sports Community Meeting Postponed Due to Irene Cleanup

Organization will re-schedule meeting aimed at organizing fundraising efforts that will restore cut Seaford Middle School winter and spring athletic seasons.

A community meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday night to organize efforts to restore the middle school winter and spring athletic seasons cut from the budget, has been postponed as a result of the local cleanup efforts taking place from Hurricane-turned Tropical Storm Irene.

The meeting organized by Save Seaford Sports was to take place at the headquarters, but will now be re-scheduled. The organization was formed this summer with a goal of raising the $141,000 needed to restore the winter and spring athletic seasons after they were cut from the budget.

In August, Save Seaford Sports has held successful fundraisers featuring , a , , skin care event and a zumba class that along with individual donations have helped raise over $10,000, according to the group’s co president, Risa Price.

The next fundraiser for Save Seaford Sports will be a at Nancy's Dance Factory in Levittown with some proceeds going toward restoring the cut middle school athletic teams. A community garage sale fundraiser that had been scheduled for this past Saturday was re-scheduled for Sept. 24 because of Irene.Save Seaford Sports also has a comedy night fundraiser scheduled for Sept. 15 at in Bellmore.
