Successful Fundraiser Held for Wantagh Teen Battling Brain Tumor

Benefit at Mulcahy's hosted by Wantagh Football Club raises more than $75,000 toward 15-year old Nick Polo's cancer battle.

The Wantagh Football Club hosted a successful fundraiser this past Friday night for a local teen battling cancer. 

at  was for Nick Polo, a Wantagh resident and sophomore at  in South Huntington, who was diagnosed a few months ago with an aggressive brain tumor. The Wantagh Football Club, which Polo previously participated in, decided to help raise funds that would help defray medical costs associated with treatment. 

With the help of the John Theissen and his Wantagh-based , Mulchay’s and Nick’s aunt and uncle, Jim and Kathy Polo, the fund-raising event was a huge success. More than 1,250 people attended the fun-filled benefit and with the help of all involved raised $75,000 for Polo's cause. 

Fundraiser organizers credited Mulcahy's Director of Catering Stacey Allen and her staff for organizing the benefit and ensuring the night's success. Wantagh Football Club officials also said they were grateful to John Theissen and his wife Heather for spearheading the event and providing advice and guidance during the organization of it.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
