Teen Holds Car Wash Fundraiser in Wantagh for Eagle Scout Project

Ryan Hillman and Troop 189 to build houses and feeders for goats at Levy Preserve in Merrick.

About a dozen boy scouts were busy scrubbing vehicles at  in Wantagh on the morning of April 28 in support of their fellow Troop 189 member Ryan Hillman, who organized a car wash fundraiser for his Eagle Scout project.

Hillman, a 16-year old student at East Meadow High School, decided for his Eagle Scout project to build houses and feeders for goats at  in Merrick. The money raised from the car wash will go towards buying materials for the project. Hillman and the the rest of Troop 189 in Wantagh will be constructing the goat feeders and houses on May 12.

The Town of Hempstead bought five Nigerian Dwarf goats in May 2009 — four doelings and one buckling — at a cost of $240 apiece for the preserve.
