The head of a Wantagh children’s charity is doing his part to assist a North Bellmore boy’s battle with leukemia.

John Theissen, founder of the John Theissen Children’s Foundation in Wantagh, is helping organize a fundraiser for five-year old Luke Lang scheduled for Sunday. The benefit scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh includes an open bar, hot buffet, live music and auctions for $60.

Proceeds from Sunday’s fundraiser will go toward paying for Lang’s medical expenses after the North Bellmore boy was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
