Vinnie B., why are you getting upset with the criticism which is being launched against this orRead More these parents, and rightfully so. Kids are a 24/7 job and they need to be(not should be) under surveillance every second of the day (especially in this day and age). Now if one can't seem to do that and if one cant conform to that, then one does not need children!!!So having said that Vinnie B,. your getting upset over criticism toward these parents is a small price to pay compared to the evil that could have happened to this child by getting hit by a car or by getting picked up by a pedophile or any of the other numerous bad things that could have happened to the child.

strange how we respond just as the terrorists desire us to. the media commemorates each incident asRead More if it were a new profit center to mine for every last click. whole populations now sit in fear of another 'something' about to happen, never again, fully safe like we were in the good old days of the cold war? once these bstrds hit us deep inside our own turf we have not become stronger, but rather 'hardened', emboldened in our delusions of ultimate superiority, no longer safe on our 'island of north america'. each of these events changes us all even imperceptably, forcing us to accept their motives, their ideals, their imam imposed concept of living. we act in unison, determined to show them we are not affected, yet that very demonstration reveals our inner need to respond, to re-affirm our own injury, each of those crowd-felt sympathies we all cling to, even if for the brief moment of our 'crowd'. be strong, and further, be alert, be conspicuous in manner in which you care for each other. shy not away from those who seek your death, but do not embrace them, as they fein no challenge to seek close to your demise.

The issue simplified: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Under the current proposal, in 2016 ifRead More I vote for Chris Christie but the national popular vote goes to Hillary, then my Christie vote is cast for Hillary at the electoral college. Under a true popular vote (abolish electoral college) my Christie vote is for Christie even if I am the only American who voted for him. So, you see, under the current proposal, my Christie vote is just as likely to get hijacked for Hillary as it is now under the system we have currently. The only difference is that it gets hijacked based on the national popular vote instead of the state popular vote. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Disclaimer: I am not advocating for either system in the example. Just trying to explain at a simplistic level. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Disclaimer: I am not advocating for Christie or Hillary in 2016

Unfortunately for a first time offender this is the average punishment. I would like to see a firingRead More squad myself. In Minnesota they have what is called Whiskey plates. Reading the various posts here I am struck at the hatred we now have for one another. I believe weRead More are more divided now that at any time in our history with the exception of the Civil War. Obama is a huge success. He has managed to divide our people as no one else has in modern history. A shame that so many have stopped thinking for themselves and instead follow the masses and the political propaganda.
Stu Pidasso April 16, 2014 at 01:49 pm
Mike- there is no hate here. actually a pathetic situation when one feels he is "owed"Read More something rather than earning it by working for it. Why not move down to the inner city and live there for 6 months, then get back to us!! it should be a real eye opener for you!! I work 6-7 days a week to enjoy what I have, even though i have little time to do so, I'm not complaining, but it bothers me that i am penalized by the way of extra taxes, fee's , etc., to help those who have no intention of trying to help themselves.. I have TWO children, NOT 5, 6, or 7 simply because I cannot afford it, and would NOT EXPECT the government to take care of them for me!!!

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

And Christmas has nothing to do with an imaginary man flying around in a sleigh pulled by magicalRead More reindeer… or elves… or trees, and entire houses for that matter, festooned with lights… or candy canes… or egg nog… or mistletoe… Holidays such as Christmas and Easter have become hybrid celebrations, ones that blend faith-based rituals with pagan customs and, of course, especially in America, mass consumerism.-------------- Offensive is a strong word, but I do agree with your sentiment, and that reminds me of the words of Holden Caulfield-------------------"They had this Christmas thing they have at Radio City every year. All these angels start coming out of the boxes and everywhere, guys carrying crucifixes and stuff all over the place, and the whole bunch of them--thousands of them--singing "Come All Ye Faithful!" like mad. Big deal. It's supposed to be religious as hell, I know, and very pretty and all, but I can't see anything religious or pretty, for God's sake, about a bunch of actors carrying crucifixes all over the stage. When they were all finished and started going out the boxes again, you could tell they could hardly wait to get a cigarette or something. I saw it with old Sally Hayes the year before, and she kept saying how beautiful it was, the costumes and all. I said old Jesus probably would've puked if He could see it--all those fancy costumes and all."

We are talking about holiday themed drinks - Truly is everyone that sensitive, old and crotchetyRead More that a themed drink list offends religious sensibilities? Pls get over yourselves. and your weird misplaced religious fanaticism. Its a frigging list of themed drinks for crying out loud , not the end of Christianity or the rebirth of a 21st century Hitler ... ITS A HOLIDAY THEMED DRINK LIST. and last time I checked BOTH Easter and Passover are HOLIDAYS -a time of Celebrating!!!
Christopher Wendt April 16, 2014 at 01:22 pm
@ Dear Patch Team. Do you have any holiday-themed cocktails for Eid al-Fitr? That is theRead More celebration of the Muslim faith at the end of the Ramadan fast. Probably not, because the Muslim religion does not condone the consumption of alcohol, and even the discussion of drinking alcohol is not permitted. Of course, that religion does recognize the frailty of the human condition, and does not allow believers to attend worship intoxicated. Now, I am not a prude or a tea-totaller, having consumed my share of alcohol and not always in moderation, either. But my point with this comment is that I suspect Patch and the Patch Team would show significantly more deference and respect for Muslim traditions than they had exhibited for the highest Christian holy day, Easter, which celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! John Chrusciel April 14, 2014 at 02:21 pm
Decaturette back in the days before collapsible steering shafts it was a bad idea to wear a seatbeltRead More because during a head on collision the steering shaft would act as a spear and run you through. I never wore a seat belt my old MGA or TR3. However, this is no longer a problem because of modern design and engineering. Some people will hem and haw about being t-boned at an intersection and the harm that a three point harness can do. I personally know many people who have had their lives saved by seat belts. I always wear mine. They should afford children the same opportunity to protect themselves. A 25 mile per hour head on collision with another vehicle travelling at 25 miles per hour is like a 50 mile per hour collision. So I do not buy the argument about shorter distances nor do I buy the article about lower driving speeds. What can is cost to have simple lap belts installed in a school bus? Are we that greedy?
Becky April 14, 2014 at 04:03 pm
I think the real reason they don't install them is that it would raise a whole other level ofRead More liability -- like that then they would have to keep the seatbelts in good working order, and maybe enforce that people wear them. Could I sue them because another passenger flew out of their seat and hit me. Etc, etc.
