Wantagh Church Holding Service for Boston Marathon Explosion Victims

Church of St. Jude hosting a Vigil and Healing Mass for Peace Wednesday starting at 8 p.m.

A Wantagh church will be holding a special service Wednesday evening to remember victims of Monday's Boston Marathon explosions.

The Church of St. Jude on 3606 Lufberry Ave. is hosting a Vigil and Healing Mass for Peace Wednesday starting at 8 p.m. 

"We will be remembering the victims of the tragedy, the family members, the Boston community, our nation and praying for peace," said Father Christopher Hofer, spiritual leader of Church of St. Jude. "The service is open to all."

As of late Monday night, three people were reported killed in the two blasts that occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon at around 2:50 p.m. Monday with dozens of others seriously injured. The White House said they are treating the explosions as "an act of terrorism."
