Crimes Nearby Part II: Man Forces Pit Bull Attack, Drug Bust

Recent criminal incidents reported for Bellmore, Merrick and East Meadow.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore

  • A Bellmore man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly had his Pit Bull attack a woman, police said. Click this link for more on this developing story.
  • Former Nassau County Police Commissioner William Flanagan was sentenced to a maximum of one year in prison for his role preventing the arrest of a Merrick teenager whose father was a personal friend and financial benefactor of the police. Click here for more details.
  • Sometime between 6:30 p.m. on July 14 and 8:15 a.m. on July 15, unknown suspect(s) stole miscellaneous electronics from complainant’s two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway on Belle Road.
East Meadow
  • Police are searching for a suspect whorobbed two teenagers on July 14. The suspect demanded their pocketbooks and their cell phones and the victims complied after the suspect threatened to stab them. 
  • Police are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman in Speno Park on July 14. 
  • On July 16,  a  26-year-old man drowned in an East Meadow pool. 
Merrick
  • Two people from Merrick were arrested and charged in Florida for possession of drugs which included hallucinogens and marijuana, according to an article in The Leader Herald. Click here for more.
