Wantagh Woman to Compete in Mrs. NY Pageant

The mother of three is preparing for October's pageant.

A Wantagh Woman, who was recently selected as Mrs. Wantagh, will get the shot to compete in the Mrs. New York Pageant in October, she told Patch.

Julissa Zambrano, 38, is a mother of three, and she was looking to do something that would inspire her to get physically fit. Seeing as her favorite movie is "Mrs. Congeniality," she decided to apply to be Mrs. Wantagh. Once accepted, she now will face off against other New Yorkers on Oct. 26-27.

"I'm getting myself physically and mentally ready for the pageant," Zambrano said. "I'm so excited. It's going to be fun."

If Zambrano were to win the Mrs. New York crown, she would represent the Empire State in the Mrs. America competition.

"It would be a shock," she said. "I’m not really a girly girl. For me to put on a dress, it takes a lot. Winning it would make me emotional."

Zambrano is seeking sponsors to help her cover the costs of the contest, including travel, lodging and more. To contact her regarding sponsorships, please email julissaz@gmail.com.
