Police: Man Tried to Obtain Codeine with Fake Prescription

Police said suspect also found in possession of 140 Oxycodone pills at Wantagh CVS.

A Uniondale man was arrested Monday night after allegedly trying to obtain drugs with a fraudulent prescription at a Wantagh CVS.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 8:25 p.m., 28-year-old Jonathan S. Lewis entered the CVS Pharmacy located at 3491 Merrick Road in Wantagh to pick up a prescription for promethazine with codeine that he had dropped off the day before.

The pharmacist had notified police about the order after recognizing the prescription was fraudulent, police said. Lewis was placed under arrest at the scene.

During the investigation, police said Lewis was found to be in possession of 140 Oxycodone pills and eight fraudulent prescriptions filled out.

Lewis is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and eight counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
